As Pete Tong put it…“If you’re serious about your music, Point Blank is the place to be…”
This is just one of the many opinions held by leading figures in the industry that have acknowledged Point Blank as such a respectable and forward thinking educational institute for electronic music.
Founded back in 1994 by Robert Cowan, this London-based school rapidly grew into a trusted academy. Point Blank attracts eager musicians and producers from all over the world, motivated and driven to gain more knowledge about the business and refine the craft of producing. It is not, therefore, surprising that they’ve been voted “Best Music Production and DJ School” for six consecutive years.
Point Blank is partnered with Middlesex University and offers a legislative Dip HE in Music Production and Business with the University. Besides this, they’re associated with Ableton, Apple, Native Instruments and Steinberg and accordingly offer a variety of integral courses in Electronic Music Production, Sound Enginering, DJing, Music Business, even Singing and Songwriting.
Although the academy is located in trendy Hoxton, it’s also renowned for their online tuition. Their program makes it easy for people from all over the world to follow the courses online. A unique creation of intimate online groups, gives students the opportunity to receive feedback and interact with their tutor and classmates and follow live Master classes through video streaming.
Point Blank started its own independent record label, offering students a platform to release their tracks during and after the courses. The label releases through various music outlets and distributors including Beatport, Juno Download, ITunes, Spotify and Amazon helping the students with the issuing and promotion of their own productions.
Point Blank success stories are rife. No Artificial Colours studied the introduction to Logic Pro course in 2010 and have since gone on to release on the likes of Kerri Chandlers Madtech Records imprint with full support from Jamie Jones, Maya Jane Coles and the infamous Visionquest crew.
