The Not So Serious Sessions 14 with Adeline

BILLBOARD-notsoserioussessionsNOLINKStockholm native Adeline has been settling comfortable into her seat as one of 2012’s brightest young talents. Having sparked the year with the infectious ‘Love Handles You’ EP on Get Physical’s sister label Kindisch, the EP’s success was immediate, shooting straight up to No.16 in Beatport’s Deep House Top 100 chart. Adeline has been non-stop ever since on the DJ circuit, playing some of this year’s most lauded events including Sonar, Miami, Eastern Electrics and the Krankbrother's epic street party. Her emotive take on deep house has seen her stand alongside DJ T, Guti, Stimming, Julio Bashmore and many more behind the decks as she proves that this is only the beginning when it comes to production and DJ’ing alike. A resident in our fair old London Town, MEOKO pinned Adeline down to be our guest for this week’s ‘The Not So Serious Sessions’...

The London 2012 Olympics...

...was on when I was playing at Eastern Electrics last weekend on the big screen! I had to escort my way through the Olympic Plaza and that was pretty much a marathon in itself. It was defo worth gold and I quite enjoyed it actually, but this was also the closest I've been to the Olympics. Apart from that, I've not really been following it as I don't have a TV at home!

The greatest instrument...

...has to be the organ. I used to play it for a few years in my late teens. It's such a gigantic instrument and makes you feel really small and helpless, which is a good thing when playing or creating music. Too much ego destroys the creative process. Nowadays, I'm not playing the organ anymore, although I still keep the key to the church I used to practice in, just in case. I'm using plug-ins a lot these days. My favourite for a long time has been the Albino, although I think I might have overused it a bit lately as I've noticed I get a bit bored by it. But I still love some of the sounds in it!

The household I grew up in...

...was in the Swedish country side an hour from Stockholm. It was very idyllic, and as a kid I had a few rabbits, my favourite animal. With two younger brothers, lots of animals and neighbouring kids on the farm we lived at, we had lots of fun in the summers - running around in the wild, jumping in hay stacks throwing stones at the cows and playing harts-violin on the window of our drunken neighbour.

The best album of 2012 so far...

...is a tough one because I'm not someone who listens to tracks in album formats. I guess that partially must be an occupational injury, but I quite like a few tracks from the new Basti Grub album, and also John Talbot's, Nina Kraviz's and First Aid Kit's.

You'd never think it but I'm really good at...

...Maths! I've got a Masters Degree in Financial Mathematics. I'm a big problem solver.

At 15 I was listening to...

...Gigi D'Agostino’s album, I was very fond of it. I was also listening to a lot of HIM. Around that time I started going to concerts so I listened to a lot of Swedish pop rock such as The Sounds, Håkan Hellström and Lars Winnerbäck. And then my very big love The Knife stepped into the picture! They will always mean something very special to me too.
