Music Through Pictures - Interview Series

Music Through Pictures - Mariano Mateljan

Music Through Pictures DJ Banner copy copy

With this offering of Music Through Pictures MEOKO treats you to a man who embraces his musical muses from the world around him and prefers to ‘Let the music do the talking’. Mariano Mateljan hailing from Split, Croatia the dextourous DJ and producer has recently treated us to new tracks Keops and BRNMLT through label U DiG and if you haven't yet heard the floor filling track Trace I can tell you that they are all full of deep groovy punchy baselines along with head spinning panning that make your feet bounce around the dancefloor. I've said enough already lol, but MEOKO loves this DJ's diversity on and off the dancefloor so we are especially happy to enjoy his thoughts on the visuals.

Every person has its own energy field. As a kid, unaware of how cruel and grey the outside world can be at times, your energy field is pure. We are, after all, surrounded by a constant stream of impacts, influences, and events. We should never forget that we have at our disposal a great reservoir of human energy.

We all get so caught up in the moment of what we're doing every day, it's hard to hit that reset button and get pulled away from all that and see life from a different perspective.

vlad caia

Those of you who are familiar with the sounds of Vlad Caia, will know why we were incredibly excited at MEOKO HQ when we had his name up next on the list of artists for Music Through Pictures. With an output of incredible beats, ranging from punchy minimal hooks to warped and experimental soundscapes, Vlad is truly a passionate musican and we couldn't wait to see what the artist would give us. For those of you who don’t know, take a moment to view what is, as expected, one of the most interesting responses to the series yet. This week, we delve a little deeper into the vast and varied rabbit hole of musical knowledge and inspiration that makes Vlad Caia tick…

Sunsets are so peaceful and magical and full of warm cosmic energy. This track of Chateaux Flight feels like this sun: radiating, sizzling, warm, beautiful and energizing.

2.

IMAGE 5 copy copy

This reminds me of a LSD trip, seeing cosmic energy fields, looking at the surrounding world without perceptive filters, the real world, that is just pure energy of vibrating particles. I imagine that world sounding like this:

This image has a dream like, kinda melancholic but beautiful atmosphere subtle, typical surrealist image.I listened Aphex Twins Album "Selected ambient works1985-1992" many times and it always felt very surreal to me.

cabanne image

Cabanne has become one of the most influential artists on the Parisian underground music scene, namely through his own output Minibar which has been at the forefront of the minimal/tech house scene in the city. Individually as a producer, he has constructed a self defined unique micro style that implements elements of house and techno that are carefully wrapped in his own signature sound. With a sharp ear for mixing, Cabanne's ability behind the decks has become something to admire due to his seamless transitions and pursuits to challenge himself through playing unrefined music. We are honoured to have him in our Music Through Pictures Series...Welcome, Cabanne!

Music Through Pictures with Valentino Kanzyani

Music Through Pictures Valentino

In 2005, Valentino Kanzyani set up Jesus Loved You, a manly vinyl based record label. A bold step considering the trends towards digital at that time. His passion for playing records goes back to the nineties, where he was regularly seen spinning records on three turntables in his home country's most famous dance music club. A defining figure in Eastern Europe’s dance music scene, the “Slovenian techno father” continued his impressive efforts beyond. A producer too, he became part of the well-renowned Cadenza label. Another milestone that cannot be ignored, is Next Wave, which he kickstarted along with his friends in 2011 and today has become one of the best underground parties in Ibiza, if not the whole of Europe. We are honoured to have him in our Music Through Pictures Series...Welcome, Valentino!
