Terje Bakke is a name that should ride high on everyone's 2013 list of ones to watch. The baby-faced Norwegian may be young, but his approach to both production and DJing conveys a considered maturity well beyond his years. As passionate about the power of melody and repetition as he is about beats and basslines, Terje uses his records to tell stories, selecting tracks not for their individual appeal, but based on their position within a wider narrative. Cryptic though this may sound, it's a style that grips hard when experienced first-hand on the floor. Episode 68 of the MEOKO podcast series perfectly captures the essence of a Terje set. Expertly mixed and beautifully collated, it moves from glitchy minimal through to richer house textures with smooth, sensual ease. Above all else, it's a mix that conveys love and real craftsmanship on the proponent's behalf, listen closely and you can almost visualise Terje's smiling self, prancing about unashamedly behind the decks.
