Our 3 Smoked Olives countdown has been underway for a while, as we eagerly await one of the most unique music experiences of the summer. With just under 3 weeks to go, the excitement is truly burning and our time on the island could not come sooner.
Taking place from July 24th– July 30th, 3 Smoked Olives invites attendees to escape the demands of modern life and immerse themselves in the idyllic world of a secluded island paradise. Now in its seventh edition, 3 Smoked Olives pairs an inimitable location with a faultless soundtrack and a welcome focus on sustainability and self expression.
Names like Sammy Dee, Herodot, Lamache, Suciu and Francesco Del Garda to name only a few are sure to secure the event’s high calibre status, while more underrated artists like Vlad Dinu and Amir Javasoul (both of whom we have had the pleasure of hosting in our MEOKO podcast series) elevate the lineup’s expert curation.

From the 26th to the 28th of July, Elétrico Festival returns to Porto’s Parque da Pasteleira. The boutique festival launched last year, born from the charismatic energy and culture of the Porto city. Taking its name “Elétrico” from the Portuguese word for “Tram”, the festival aims to be a “vehicle of emotions”, offering connection, immersion and liberation through a dynamic artistic and cultural experience.
MEOKO is delighted to be partnering with Elétrico in 2019, celebrating one more year of positive energy through music and the outdoors. The festival prides itself on its values of cultural sustainability and diversity, which permeate all dimensions of Elétrico. The festival aims to bring the unique Porto character to the world in an inclusive atmosphere, where the musical offering is complemented by artistic exhibitions and a focus on nature and wellness.
This years’ musical programming fills the big shoes left by last year’s instalment, with a richly curated selection of local and international talent from house to jazz, minimal to funk, and techno to disco. Elétrico's tasteful line-up caters to heads from all corners of the musical landscape.
Artists include (in alphabetical order): Apollonia, D'julz, Diana Oliveira, Helena Guedes, Inner City (live), Janus Rasmussen live (Kiasmos), João Dinis, João Tenreiro, Leo Cruz, Levon Vincent, Matthew Herbert, Maria Gambina - Fashion Designer, Marcel Dettman, Magazino, Maayan Nidam (live), Moodymann, Petre Inspirescu, Rui Vargas, Theo Parrish, Tiago Carvalho and Vasco Valente.
What stands out most about Elétrico’s programming is the selection of highly influential artists that have been at the forefront of their respective genres: names like Dettman, Parish and Inspirescu are undoubtedly synonymous with stalwart status. For those looking for a July weekender away from the hype of commercialism, Elétrico is an excellent choice. Now its fifth year, Tbilisi’s EZO festival returns for their season opening from the 14th to the 16th of June. The festival will also return later in the high summer from the 13th to the 14th of July for their season closing. The music and arts festival is organised by Mzesumzira (Sunflower) Community and is held on Mtatsminda Hill overlooking city of Tbilisi, Georgia.
The festival’s musical offering features many of electronic music’s most seminal artists: a diverse range of legends who have made their mark on their respective genres. Spread across three stages, the 2019 edition of eZo will host Zip, Margaret Dygas, Derrick May, Derick Carter, Chez Damier, Ata, Tod Terry, Gerd Janson, Jeremy Underground among others. With a well-rounded approach to curation, eZo’s offerings will satisfy the tastes of traditional house purists, minimal heads, and those with a penchant for a disco boogie. In addition, eZo will play host to a showcase of the iconic Sysiphos, bringing with them a slice of Berlin through their resident DJs, stage design, and even sandy beach.
The festival’s strong musical direction is complemented by a healthy focus on culture and arts, with bars, terraces, chill out spots, artisanal food and various activities on offer to provide punters with a well-rounded and immersive experience.
In the years since the festival’s inception, the ups and downs in the country’s politics and the radical changes in society have driven those in the Georgian creative scene, to break free and express themselves. The collective continuation of this movement manifests today in sincere emtoions and an energy on the dancefloor like no other. This unique vibe will be undeliably palpable during eZo festival; a celebration of the rich culture of forward-thinking inspiration that permeates the countries music scene.
Positioning itself as a gathering filled with rays of joy and waves of happiness, eZo Festival is sure to satisfy hearts and minds alike. On August 25th, Ampere will celebrate their 5th year of existence with the launch of the inaugural Ampere Open Air. Located at the Middenvijver, in the outskirts of Antwerp, the festival will feature more than 50 international and local artists divided over 5 thoughtfully curated stages and will be teaming up with the infamous Boiler Room as a stage host and live-streaming partner.
The first wave of artists announced features some of the most influential acts from different corners of the electronic music landscape. Techno purists are in for a treat, with Detroit legend Jeff Mills, joining Berghain Berlin resident Len Faki, Ostgut’s crown jewel Marcel Dettmann and Recondite who will be performing live. For those who like their sounds more stripped back, Romanian stalwart’s Raresh & Praslea will perform as the revered Praslesh duo.
Complementing the headliners, Ampere has curated a forward thinking line-up showcasing a range of rising and established underground talent from house, techno, ambient to future jazz. Amongst the first confirmed performers, are talents such as Ben Hayes, Synkro, and Dekmantel’s Betonkust & Palmbomen II. In addition, Donna Leake, Dan Shake, Stellar Om Source, David Vunk and rising talent Gabriella Vergilov represent a selection of musicians with creative and broad inspirations, sure to nurture the soul and ears of a receptive crowd.
Besides a strong international selection, are some of Antwerp’s highest calibre local talents. Ampere Open Air endeavours to give many undiscovered gems a well-deserved platform to showcase their artistry and musical creativity. Accordingly, the lineup favours a strong focus on locals such as composer and live performer Hiele, the rising star Lola Haro, and the illustrious Borokov Borokov Live.
When it comes to festivals, Belgium’s offering is amongst the most dense in Europe. As such, Ampere Open Air has distinguished itself as a unique offering with a diverse line up, whilst remaining affordable for everyone. Ampere Open Air presents an accessible event with a wide spectrum of musical diversity and opportunities for local sustainable initiatives. Attendees will be given a worthwhile experience, where music, culture and creativity collide to create something inspiring and renewing.
Ampere Open Air will take place on Sunday 25th of August at Middenvijver (Linkeroever, Antwerp).
